2008 HIGHLIGHTS
The Fighting Beavers Lacrosse Club is entering its sixth season. We are excited about the direction of the program and continue to make improvements based on feedback from parents and players. For the 2008 season you can look forward to the following:
Development
The club is committed to providing a program that will improve your son's skills, knowledge of the game and passion for lacrosse. Our goal is provide the top-notch coaching, that may not be available in the traditional rec or school program. As always, this is done in a fun environment that makes the game enjoyable.
Team Rosters
Team rosters will be limited to 20 players per roster GUARANTEED.
Teams Selected by Grade
Middle school teams will be formed by grade. This will allow players to work with their peers and insure that everyone has an opportunity to develop with teammates that are of similar size and ability. This year we will offer a 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade team, along with a high school A and B team.
Specialty Coaching
We provide specialized position training during practices. This includes: dodging, checks, face-off and goalie play.
Program Director
Chris Sanderson
Team Canada
2006 World Champion
2006 & 1998 All-World Goalie
Coach, Philadelphia Wings
University of Virginia, '95-'98
Chris Sanderson is considered by many to be the greatest field lacrosse goalie that Canada has ever produced.
Sanderson played at the University of Virginia, where his career included four tournament appearances and two trips to the Final Four. In 1996, UVa came within an overtime goal of a National Championship, losing to Princeton in the title game.
After a successful career at Virginia, Chris joined the Canadian National team in 1998. The Canadian team waged an epic battle with the US in the 1998 Championship game. Overcoming an 11-goal deficit, the Canadian team eventually lost in overtime. Sanderson was selected to the All World team, and voted the best goalie in the tournament. He represented Canada again in 2002, helping Canada earn a silver medal. Returning for his third World Games in 2006, Sanderson was instrumental in Canada's efforts to defeat the US in the championship game. This ended the Americans' 28-year unbeaten streak and cemented Sanderson's place in history as he became the first goalie to earn the All World designation for a second time.
Professionally, Chris played in the National Lacrosse League for 5 years. He was a member of the 2001 NLL Champions Cup winning Philadelphia Wings. In 2005, Chris transitioned from the field to the bench and is currently an assistant coach and assistant general manager with the Philadelphia Wings.
Chris will work directly with every team in the program during the weekly practices.
Coaching
The club offers an elevated level of coaching and teaching. Our staff is comprised of current and former NCAA, NLL, MLL and National Team players. Each team will have a full-time head coach who will work with his assigned team the entire season. In addition each team will have a junior coach who is a current NCAA player and alumni of the Fighting Beavers program.
